Is your child quiet or shy? Does she lack confidence? Through consistent structure, encouragement and positive reinforcement, the Tiny Tiger experience helps the quiet child become more confident and assertive. At Davenport’s ATA Martial Arts, we know that positive reinforcement and encouragement is the best way to help young children learn and build self-esteem. The consistent structure of weekly classes gives your preschooler a jump-start on mastering the listening skills he will need in school. It prepares her for the structured setting she will encounter in kindergarten. By exposing your child to a safe and warm environment at an early age, separation anxiety will be lessened and social skills will be improved! The transition to school will be much easier.
With most children’s activities, the learning stops when the activity ends. At Davenport’s ATA Martial Arts, our goal is to teach children how to take the life skills we teach and put them to use in their lives at home and in school. Because the Tiny Tiger program is martial arts-based, we are proud to help children learn the values of discipline, courtesy, respect, self-control and more. Then, the Tigers are encouraged to practice the lessons at home, with you reinforcing the good behavior! We also understand that sometimes our children have trouble displaying these values. So if your child needs a little extra parental support, we are here to work side-by-side with you to make sure your preschooler is right on track!
The rank and testing system used by the Tiny Tigers is slightly different than that of the regular taekwondo program. Tigers can earn eight collectible animal patches to display on the belts as follows: Tiger for orange belt; Cheetah for yellow; Lion for camo; Eagle for green; Phoenix for purple; Dragon for blue; Cobra for brown; Panther for red. All eight patches, as earned, can be displayed on the child’s belt. Upon graduation from the Tiny Tigers program into the regular program, the Tiger will take on the rank of orange belt.
