Webster Taekwondo

Our classes train students to protect themselves, as all martial arts schools should. There is so much more! We provide a fun way to improve physical fitness and mental focus. We develop relationships with one another and help with outside social skills and leadership abilities. Students gain self-confidence, which helps in every aspect of life! Classes include new techniques for blocking, striking and kicking, which we use in partner drills, bag work, sparring, self-defense and board breaking. We also train with many different weapons and defense against weapons. There is a variety of specialties offered so that each student can find something that is his or her very own certain victory. There are many opportunities for competition at tournaments in our school and all over Texas and the country, should there be an interest in that. At the same time, the concept of "personal victory" is emphasized, where individual students are not compared against one another, but are able to see where improvement has been made in each journey in the martial arts, which provides success in each life! Come, see why this school is championship training at unbelievable prices!

Does your child like to run, jump and yell? Your preschooler may just be a ball of energy! Our Tiny Tiger program (ages 3.5-6) will help to channel that energy and teach your child focus, coordination, listening skills and confidence. Using martial arts-based exercises such as blocking, striking, kicking and punching, your son or daughter will learn how to focus that energy to achieve a specific result. By learning combinations of the fundamental taekwondo techniques, he will develop balance and hand/eye coordination. This training uses age-appropriate activities and class structure which build confidence as your Tiny Tiger advances in rank.

Is your child quiet or shy? Does she lack confidence? Through consistent structure, encouragement and positive reinforcement, the Tiny Tiger experience helps the quiet child become more confident and assertive. At Davenport’s ATA Martial Arts, we know that positive reinforcement and encouragement is the best way to help young children learn and build self-esteem. The consistent structure of weekly classes gives your preschooler a jump-start on mastering the listening skills he will need in school. It prepares her for the structured setting she will encounter in kindergarten. By exposing your child to a safe and warm environment at an early age, separation anxiety will be lessened and social skills will be improved! The transition to school will be much easier.

With most children’s activities, the learning stops when the activity ends. At Davenport’s ATA Martial Arts, our goal is to teach children how to take the life skills we teach and put them to use in their lives at home and in school. Because the Tiny Tiger program is martial arts-based, we are proud to help children learn the values of discipline, courtesy, respect, self-control and more. Then, the Tigers are encouraged to practice the lessons at home, with you reinforcing the good behavior! We also understand that sometimes our children have trouble displaying these values. So if your child needs a little extra parental support, we are here to work side-by-side with you to make sure your preschooler is right on track!

The rank and testing system used by the Tiny Tigers is slightly different than that of the regular taekwondo program. Tigers can earn eight collectible animal patches to display on the belts as follows: Tiger for orange belt; Cheetah for yellow; Lion for camo; Eagle for green; Phoenix for purple; Dragon for blue; Cobra for brown; Panther for red. All eight patches, as earned, can be displayed on the child’s belt. Upon graduation from the Tiny Tigers program into the regular program, the Tiger will take on the rank of orange belt.

So, whether your child is a ball of energy or a little shy, the Tiny Tiger program will create a well-rounded little person who is headed for success!
